The Yamaha DSP-E580 is a Digital Field Processor and Amplifier designed to enhance an existing stereo system for a more immersive home cinema experience. It functions as an add-on component, allowing you to retain your primary stereo amplifier for the front speakers while it handles the amplification and processing for the surround channels.

This unit integrates a 3-channel amplifier, providing 25 watts RMS per channel (at 8 ohms) to power a centre speaker and two rear surround effect speakers. It is capable of decoding analogue stereo inputs into multi-channel matrix formats, such as Dolby Pro Logic and Dolby Pro Logic Enhanced, to create a surround sound field.

The DSP-E580 offers a selection of 16 acoustic environments, comprising 12 Cinema DSP profiles and 4 Hi-Fi DSP profiles, designed to simulate various listening spaces. For connectivity, it features composite and S-Video switching, a dedicated subwoofer output with low-pass filtering, and Main Left and Right Pre-Outs to send front-channel signals back to your main amplifier. An on-screen display menu system facilitates adjustments to delay times, channel levels, and speaker configurations.
