The Thorens TD318 is a well-regarded belt-drive turntable, produced by the established Swiss-German manufacturer between 1985 and 1991. Positioned as a capable mid-range model within the popular 300 series, it offers a blend of authentic hi-fi performance and user-friendly operation.

A key design element is its suspended sub-chassis, employing a three-point floating suspension system. This setup, with adjustable leaf springs, effectively isolates the platter and tonearm from external vibrations and motor noise, contributing to a stable and clear audio reproduction.

Operation is semi-automatic, featuring an electronic end-of-record cueing system that automatically lifts the tonearm and stops the platter. This makes it more convenient than a fully manual deck without compromising its sonic capabilities, which are noted for a neutral and smooth sound signature. This particular unit is fitted with an Audio Technica 3600L cartridge.

- Two speeds: 33.33 and 45 RPM
- Belt-drive system with synchronous motor
- 300mm zinc alloy platter
- TP21 tonearm with removable headshell
- Semi-automatic operation with auto tonearm lift and platter stop
- Suspended sub-chassis design
