The Technics SL-D2 is a respected semi-automatic direct-drive turntable, first introduced in 1979. It offers a compelling entry into vintage vinyl playback, recognised for its durable construction, dependable speed consistency, and straightforward upkeep.
This model employs a direct-drive system powered by a brushless DC motor with servo control, ensuring excellent rotational accuracy. Operation is semi-automatic: you manually cue the stylus, and the tonearm automatically lifts, returns, and powers down when playback concludes.
Key features include two playback speeds (33-1/3 and 45 RPM), a pitch control with a strobe illuminator for fine-tuning rotational speed, and an S-shaped tonearm with a removable headshell. The tonearm allows for adjustment of tracking force via a counterweight and anti-skate settings.

- Semi-automatic operation
- Plays at 33-1/3 and 45 RPM
