SME Series III Tonearm

The SME Series III precision pickup arm represents the pinnacle of independent tonearm design, the result of over seven years of research and development. This tonearm introduces several groundbreaking innovations along with evolutionary improvements on its predecessor.

One of its key advancements is the use of nitrogen-hardened titanium tubing. With a wall thickness only twice the diameter of a human hair, this material provides an exceptional strength-to-weight ratio. Additionally, the arm's soft core and internal fibrous lining naturally dampen vibrations transmitted by the cartridge, ensuring superior sound fidelity.

The 'S' models are simplified versions, without the costly rack and pinion adjustment, and offer fluid damping as an optional feature. Later models incorporate modified arm tubes with revised geometry, optimised specifically for 12" records. Refer to the CA-1 instructions for identifying which version you own.
