We are pleased to offer for sale this used Vintage Dual 1218 Turntable With Saba Plinth.

It has been professionally repackaged to ensure safe delivery with mains cable, turntable lid and RCA and grounding leads included.

This has been tested and is in full working order. It is sold with a 3 month warranty.

The general cosmetic condition is fair. The wooden plinth is losing its edging around the bottom of the unit and the silver trim on the front of the plinth is bent. In addition, the turntable lid has some marks and scratches. Please see images for further details.

This Saba Dual 1218 is a vintage idler-drive turntable, a collaboration between Saba and Dual, originating from Germany in the early 1970s. It combines Saba's distinctive, well-built plinth and dust cover with Dual's robust 1218 mechanical components, creating a sought-after package for collectors.

The turntable features a high-torque synchronous motor driving the platter via an idler wheel, a system known for its instant torque and dynamic sound. It offers three playback speeds: 33, 45, and 78 RPM, all adjustable with pitch control. The precision tonearm, mounted on a 4-point gimbal, is designed for excellent tracking capabilities.

Operation is fully automatic, though manual control is also available. The non-magnetic, balanced platter weighs approximately 1.9 kg. Saba's version of the Dual 1218 is notable for its enhanced aesthetics, often featuring rich wood veneers, and improved dust cover mechanics with a dual "flap and slide" action. The enclosed base also provides better acoustic isolation compared to standard Dual models.
