This Quad package comprises the iconic Quad 33 Control Unit, the Quad 303 Power Amplifier, and the Quad FM4 Tuner, representing a significant era in British hi-fi. Launched in the late 1960s, the 33 and 303 marked Quad's shift to transistor technology, establishing a benchmark for audio performance and design that remains influential.

The Quad 33 preamplifier features distinctive rotary controls for volume, bass, treble, and slope, alongside push-button filters for managing vinyl surface noise. A "Cancel" button offers a direct signal path by bypassing tone adjustments. The accompanying Quad 303 power amplifier, delivering 45 watts per channel into 8 ohms, is renowned for its smooth, warm sound signature, often described as tube-like. Its compact, vertical chassis with front cooling fins is instantly recognisable.

Completing the system is the Quad FM4 tuner, manufactured from the early 1980s. This FM-only unit offers a minimalist design and user-friendly operation, complementing the aesthetic of other Quad components from the period. It combines analogue tuning with microprocessor-controlled features like AFC and stereo muting, supported by a clear digital frequency display and signal strength indicator.
