This Pioneer PDR-555RW is a versatile CD player and recorder, originally released around 1999. It offers the functionality to record audio onto both CD-R (write-once) and CD-RW (rewritable) discs, making it suitable for archiving music or creating custom compilations.

The unit incorporates built-in sampling rate converters, allowing for conversion from 32kHz or 48kHz sources to the standard 44.1kHz CD format. It also features Digital Synchro Recording, which simplifies the recording process by automatically starting and stopping the recording in sync with the audio playback source.

Connectivity options include analogue RCA stereo inputs and outputs, as well as digital optical and coaxial inputs. A headphone jack is also provided for private listening. The PDR-555RW is equipped with Pioneer's Legato Link Conversion technology and a multi-level delta-sigma digital-to-analogue converter for enhanced audio reproduction.
