This Pioneer DV-868AVi-S is a highly capable universal disc player, presented in a classic silver finish. Launched in the mid-2000s, it was recognised for its advanced digital connectivity, offering early HDMI output for video and i.Link (FireWire) for high-resolution audio.

It handles a comprehensive range of disc formats, including DVD-Video, DVD-Audio, SACD (stereo and multichannel), CD, and various recordable formats, as well as MP3 files. The HDMI output provides upscaling to 720p or 1080i for standard definition discs, while the dual i.Link ports facilitate direct digital audio transfer to compatible equipment.

Internally, the player features 24-bit/192kHz audio DACs and Pioneer's Legato Link PRO technology for enhanced CD audio. Video processing is handled by a 14-bit/216MHz DAC, a resolution expander, and PureCinema progressive scan for detailed and smooth picture reproduction.
