The Pioneer A-676 Reference Series is a Japanese-made integrated stereo amplifier from the early 1990s, recognised for its robust construction and high-quality internal components. It is designed to provide clean and powerful amplification, capable of driving challenging speaker loads effectively.
This amplifier boasts a substantial build, weighing close to 13 kilograms, a testament to its substantial internal architecture and focus on analogue performance. It offers a significant power output and maintains a very low level of harmonic distortion, ensuring a pure audio signal. The frequency response is exceptionally broad, and the signal-to-noise ratio is excellent, contributing to a quiet and detailed listening experience.
Key features include a versatile built-in phono stage that accommodates both Moving Magnet and Moving Coil cartridges, offering flexibility for vinyl enthusiasts. The amplifier also incorporates Pioneer's Non-Switching Type II design, aimed at minimising distortion for a smoother sound signature. A 'Source Direct' mode is available to bypass tone controls, optimising signal purity. Its construction features a resonance-dampening chassis and a substantial power supply for stable energy delivery.
