The NAD 414 is a well-respected FM/MW stereo radio tuner, originally produced by NAD Electronics in the late 1990s. It is recognised for its strong FM reception capabilities and a direct, user-friendly control layout. This unit is a fitting choice for those assembling a vintage hi-fi system, particularly from the NAD range.

This tuner supports both FM and MW (AM) broadcast bands and includes Radio Data System (RDS) functionality. RDS allows for the display of station names and other text information, alongside automatic station searching and the ability to store up to 30 favourite stations for quick access. The design reflects NAD's characteristic minimalist aesthetic, featuring a substantial black casework, a signal strength indicator, and a rotary control for tuning and preset selection.

The FM tuner section is noted for its clear and precise reception, even when using a basic aerial, thanks to its internal design. While the AM band offers a good signal-to-noise ratio, its selectivity can be affected by strong nearby signals. Listeners often comment on the tuner's energetic and uncoloured sound output, making it well-suited for enjoying detailed radio programmes and classical music.
