The Goldring Lenco GL78 is a respected four-speed turntable from the 1970s, built in Switzerland. It takes the well-established design of the Lenco GL75 and enhances it with several key improvements. This model is favoured by vinyl collectors for its substantial, dynamically balanced platter and solid construction.
This transcription turntable utilises a robust idler-wheel drive system, ensuring swift start-up and consistent torque. It offers a wide range of playback speeds: 16, 33⅓, 45, and 78 RPM, with the added flexibility of continuously variable pitch control.
A notable enhancement over earlier models is the inclusion of a semi-automatic auto-stop function. This mechanism automatically lifts the tonearm and disengages the motor when a record concludes, providing added convenience. The turntable's chassis is mounted on a hydraulically damped suspension system, incorporating four internal springs designed to isolate the playback mechanism from acoustic feedback and external vibrations.
- Four-speed operation (16, 33⅓, 45, 78 RPM)
- Infinitely variable pitch control
- Idler-wheel drive system
- Semi-automatic auto-stop feature
- Hydraulically damped suspension for vibration isolation
