The Cambridge Audio DacMagic Plus is a versatile digital-to-analogue converter, headphone amplifier, and digital preamplifier. Building on the success of its predecessor, this unit introduced enhanced functionality including variable volume control and a dedicated headphone output. It also offered the option of wireless streaming through an optional Bluetooth adapter.

This device remains a popular choice for those seeking to elevate their desktop audio setup or enhance a budget hi-fi system. Its design focuses on improving digital audio playback by processing and upscaling incoming signals before they reach your amplifier or active speakers.

The DacMagic Plus uses a dual-differential configuration of two Wolfson WM8740 DAC chips for precise signal processing and improved channel separation. It employs Anagram Technologies' ATF2 upsampling technology to process all digital audio to 24-bit/384kHz, aiming to reduce timing errors and enhance detail. Users can also select from three different digital filter profiles to fine-tune the sound. The asynchronous USB input ensures that the DAC controls the data clock, further minimising jitter from computer sources.

Connectivity options include USB, coaxial, and optical digital inputs. For output, it provides both RCA and balanced XLR connections, offering flexibility for various audio systems. Additionally, it features digital coaxial and optical outputs for passing through the digital signal. A dedicated USB port is available for connecting an optional Bluetooth receiver for wireless audio streaming.
