The AudioQuest Type 4 speaker cable, a long-standing model in the AudioQuest range, utilises a four-conductor Star-Quad arrangement and Solid Long-Grain Copper (LGC) conductors. Originally developed in the late 1980s and subsequently updated, this cable is engineered to provide a low-noise and highly accurate audio signal path.

This particular cable features a four-metre length and is supplied as a pair. The design incorporates Solid Long-Grain Copper, which aims to reduce distortion compared to standard copper, contributing to a cleaner overall sound.

Key design elements include Spread-Spectrum Technology (SST) which employs conductors of varying sizes to minimise the sonic imprint of any single wire gauge. The Star-Quad geometry is intended to optimise capacitance and enhance dynamic contrast, while noise dissipation is addressed through carbon-loaded polyethylene on the negative conductors to reduce radio-frequency interference. The positive conductors use foamed-polyethylene insulation, designed for signal isolation with minimal energy absorption.
