The Arcam Alpha 9P is a well-regarded British stereo power amplifier, originally released in the late 1990s. It is known for producing a musical and engaging sound signature. This amplifier is often used in conjunction with the Arcam Alpha 9 integrated amplifier, forming a high-fidelity, bi-amplified system.
Designed to offer substantial power, the Alpha 9P can deliver 70 Watts per channel into an 8-ohm load. Its output stage utilises VMOSFET transistors, enabling it to provide significant current to drive a wide range of loudspeakers effectively. The unit's power supply is centred around a substantial 400VA toroidal transformer, contributing to its robust performance.
The Arcam Alpha 9P offers flexible configuration options. It can be integrated into a bi-amplification setup with the matching Alpha 9 integrated amplifier, allowing the integrated unit to handle tweeter duties while the 9P drives the bass and midrange drivers. Furthermore, two Alpha 9P amplifiers can be linked using the 'Mono Link' switch to operate as mono-block units for enhanced channel separation. Multiple units can also be daisy-chained for multi-room audio or tri-amplification applications.
